Croatia recorded a slight rise in construction activity this June, with 959 building permits issued, marking an increase of 1.2 percent compared to June 2024.
However, data for the first half of the year shows a small overall decline. From January to June 2025, the total number of building permits issued was down 0.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
The majority of permits in June were issued for buildings (87.5 percent), while the remaining 12.5 percent covered other types of structures. When broken down by type of work, new construction dominated, accounting for 80 percent of permits, with reconstructions making up the remaining 20 percent.
Looking ahead, the June permits foresee the construction of 1,628 new apartments across Croatia, with an average size of 94.2 square metres.
While modest, the increase in June points to continued demand in the housing sector, even as overall figures for the year remain slightly lower than in 2024.
