Just searching for rooms to rent on openRent and come across this completely illegal horror show… advertised as 7 bedrooms 1 bathroom!!!

I messaged the criminal landlord to confirm and they actually said 6 rooms 1 toilet which is still utter bs and I trust them even less!

So when I have to shit myself cos they couldn't even provide basic facilities I'll be sending my shat pants off straight to their doorstep as a thank you gift.

Anyway, I go and look up the place on the Housing Register…. I don't know the exact address, only the road name but it appears there's only 3 places licensed for HMO on that road and they're all 4 max occupants!

You can run a search on the Lambeth council website yourself here (SW8 2DG):

This means they are either letting it out way over the maximum allowed occupancy and not meeting the minimum required toilets of 2 for 6 or more people or EVEN WORSE – they dont even have a HMO licence and are freely extorting and farming money off of several people who are perhaps too uninformed or desperate to know otherwise.

Needless to say I've reported this to high hell and hope they face swift justice!

(dont even get me started on the price etc.)

    Until we fix the supply issue, nothing will fix it. I understand OP’s intentions are good. However, I lived in one of those horrible HMOs and if they hadn’t existed, I would’ve had to move back home.

  10. I’ve just learned from your post that my landlord is in breach of his HMO in the flat I live. What do I do 😭I move out in two weeks, he’s been an arse, how do I be as destructive as possible via reporting ?

  14. Slumlords gonna slumlord, they’ll be raking in the £££ when he has 7 boat people there. Feel sorry for families actually trying to live there, bet it’s a shit tip by now, dirty mattress at front and a sofa for the street goat party.
