Are we really going to investigate whether the Crime Minister was too stupid to understand the own rules he made?
Voting is pointless, the tories have too much of a majority even if there were a few rebels which I would expect for there to be.
At least this means that Tory MP’s will be forced to vote to block the investigation — so much for the party of law and order.
3 line whip inbound. Any Tory MPs that vote against Bojo better pray he doesn’t survive this because if he does they won’t lol.
Hopefully they show a spine…
I hate Johnson, but honestly why even bother? Nothing is going to happen to him even if they do go through it all and find him guilty.
He’s lied to the queen, parliament and the country multiple times. Broken lots of rules/laws, filling his pockets along the way. And nothing has happened to him…
Even with the parties during lockdown, he was apparently only fined £50 which is pathetic (I was expecting at least £10k per party).
All it’s going to do is be a waste of time (and probably be a big distraction from other things they’re trying to get away with without people knowing).
If the whips want to treat this as a confidence vote then they will just throw any tory who votes against him out of the party.
Labour have done all they can by forcing a debate on it.
I expect those tories in marginised seats and some redwall mouthbreathers will be given a free pass. Everyone else will do as they are told and push their heads and votes further up Boris’ arse.
It’s a dicktatorship
Dafuq is this even up for a vote? This should be a standard process to keep PMs and MPs accountable.
That “investigation” should take 5 seconds: press play on the videotape where he lies to parliament.
End of investigation
One gets a ‘real time’ perspective of the integrity of Parliament … The final vote will tell us we can quit wondering if they have any.
But the cops have concluded that Boris is a criminal and so in conclusion should resign. Why drag out yet another investigation into what is obviously apparant its just a waste of time and money.
I don’t understand this. What is there to vote on? He did mislead parliament, it’s not debatable, he did. It was recorded, on record. It is irrelevant if he knew the rules or not, incompetence isn’t an excuse. He’s the PM FFS, what a joke.
Like how nixon and Reagan laid the way for the walking disaster GWB. Who paved the way for trump and Biden.
BJ is just one more stepping stone on the path downwards. He’ll get away with this, and then the next PM will get away with something even dumber.
What’s there to investigate…?
It’s a fact that he lied.
Rory Stewart reads Boris Johnson’s school report to resign from Tory party
Can I put myself forward to lead this investigation?
I’ve got decent GCSEs and I’ve won my share of cludo games, so I fail to see how I could be any better qualified.
Bring back the days when he just *affected* looking like a useless, homeless drunk.
I missed, on the first reading of this, that Hoyle decided to bounce this to the house rather than just referring it to the committee (which is what he should have done). Knowing the Tories have a majority, this smells a lot like Hoyle giving Boris a very undeserved out.
Also, IIRC, Boris is the one who gets to decide when the report is actually released, if at all, from that committee.
Why does this guy look like an orangutang in a poorly made human suit
Why do they protect him? What dirt does he have on other Tory members? Is he a grand wizard or Master Mason? They’ve turned the gaslighting up to 11.
Asking a Tory if Johnson is too stupid to understand his own rules or if he’s a lying criminal (the only choices in play) is like asking a Christian if God can create a stone too heavy for him to lift.
“Yes and also no”. A quantum response that maintains both and neither at once.
Johnson’s apology is crap.
“I’d like to move away from the Ukraine issue to say how sorry I am, but I still genuinely didn’t know at the time. We’ve made improvements and I’m really sorry, and all this will make me try harder in Ukraine”.
Need a new phrase for Banana Republic that isn’t so… colonial, cause that’s what this country is
“Ladies and gentlemen after my own investigation on my alleged misrepresentation of Parliament I can say I have not done anything wrong”
Is it a real vote or just dog & pony show my MPs to show they care?
