Kurti at the farewell reception for the Finnish ambassador: Finland, a strong partner of Kosovo on the path to the EU
The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated in the farewell reception for the Ambassador of Finland to Kosovo, Matti Nissinen, which was held at the latter’s residence.
In his address, Kurti said that they have gathered to celebrate the strong friendship between Kosovo and Finland and the extraordinary service of Ambassador Nissinen. He said that Kosovo and Finland have many similarities.
Among other things, both border a larger neighbor that has historically been aggressive, a reality that has required us to remain constantly vigilant.
“But beyond geopolitical realities, most of the things we share as two countries are positive and are deeply rooted in the optimism of our peoples,” he further stated.
Speaking about Ambassador Nissinen’s role, contribution and commitment during his service, Kurti added: “Over the past three years, Ambassador Nissinen has embodied the values of partnership (between our two countries), helping to strengthen Kosovo’s path towards the European Union and supporting our application for membership in the Council of Europe. During his mandate as ambassador, the Finland-Kosovo Chamber of Commerce was established. Finland also contributes to our security, being part of EULEX and the KFOR mission, with 59 officers currently serving in Kosovo.
In addition to his gratitude, Kurti wished the ambassador success and further prosperity in his career.
