Why Can’t the U.S. Build 5-Minute E.V. Chargers? Chinese automakers have rolled out chargers that can mostly recharge a car’s battery in about five minutes. Yet U.S. technology lags far behind.

  1. Practical everyday consumer tech in America lags behind all other 1st world nations.

  2. We only build things to attract investors, not to advance the needs of the country. That’s why we’ve sucked for the past 40 trickle-down years.

  3. Ok flashback when did Tesla go to China? Few years back… i wonder what they really got from him more than pay

  4. But how would that be good for the oil and gas companies who spend billions of dollars lobbying congress for preferential treatment?

  5. I was expecting fluff but charging capacity that is measured in megawatts really would be a game changer.

  6. Perhaps I’m mistaken, but this type of charger is very much possible in America, but the opportunity cost for the incredibly rare occasions you need this much power this fast is too rare to justify the higher install costs, is hell on the battery life, almost certainly skyrockets the odds of starting a fire or blowing up the battery, and finally – take a lot of the Chinese claims with a grain of salt, even if more reputable news orgs buy into the rage bait.

  7. I studied abroad in Japan in 2003 and you could use a cell phone for payments almost anywhere. We didn’t get that till like 2012.

  8. If we invested in our society, we also could have had impressive MPG prior to EV’s coming out. Thanks, Big Oil Lobbyists…

  9. Because anything i can’t understand within an hour is ~~witchcraft~~ ~~sorcery~~ woke /s.

  10. US is far behind in everything. We are in decline and can’t have anything nice, unfortunately.
