Seventeen-year-old figure skater Grayson Long from Oakville is set to represent Canada on the international stage as he competes in the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Riga, Latvia
An Oakville figure skater will take the international stage this week at a Junior championship with competitors from six different continents.
Local skater Grayson Long will be competing in the ISU Junior Grand Prix later this week in Riga, Latvia. The event will take place from Aug. 20-23, 2025.
The ISU Junior Grand Prix series has been in existence since 1997, and features seven events which eventually concludes with the Junior Grand Prix finals.
This series of competitions includes the next generation of figure skaters from the ages of 13-19, with competitors coming from Europe, North and South America, Asia, Oceania, and Africa.
Oakville’s Grayson Long was selected to represent Canada at this event earlier this year.
At only 17 years old, Long has already won a gold medal at Skate Canada’s NextGen competition and won a silver medal at the 2025 Cranberry Cup in Norwood, Massachusetts.
Long will be competing in the men’s event and will be going up against some of the best figure skaters in his age group.
The entire competition will be streamed live on YouTube on the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating official YouTube channel.
