An unknown object exploded in Poland: the investigation is ongoing

In Poland, in the village of Osiny in Lublin Voivodeship, an unidentified object fell on a corn field and subsequently exploded. Windows were blown out in nearby houses as a result of the incident. The incident occurred around 2:00 local time on August 20.

Details were provided by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Czesław Mroczek on the air of Polish radio Jedynka. According to him, police and officers from the Internal Security Agency are on the scene.

“We are cooperating with the military. It has not yet been determined exactly what we were dealing with. Of course, there is no danger to local residents, and no one was injured.”

Circumstances of the incident and police response

Mroczek also noted that an official statement regarding the circumstances of the incident would be released soon. When asked whether it could have been a Russian missile or drone, the deputy minister said that he cannot confirm these versions at this time.

In the night of August 20, the Russian army struck Ukrainian skies, using two Iskander-M missiles and launching 93 attack drones of the Shahed type and various other imitation drones. The air defense forces destroyed one missile and 62 drones. According to the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, fighters were deployed to patrol in response to threats to airspace.
