Police are investigating a report of criminal damage after a republican activist sprayed graffiti demanding lower rent prices on a property in west Belfast.
A video shared on social media by the Irish Republican Socialist Party (IRSP) appears to show a party campaigner spraying ‘Drop the Rents’ on the front of a house.
The PSNI confirmed it received a report at around 1.50pm this afternoon about criminal damage in the Harrogate Street area.
The footage appears to show a man referred to as “a republican socialist activist’ spray painting the demand on the window and wall of the currently unoccupied property.

Looks like an answer to the ever increasing price of renting around Belfast has been found.
Good. Fuck these rich fucks
It’s all a bit less Robin Hood and more grubby hoods, isn’t it?
Graffiti and criminal damage might make for a flashy protest clip, but it does nothing to shift the ground beneath the private rental market . A system that far too often thrives on exploitation and desperation of the most vulnerable and economically disadvantaged.
If any reform orientated (lawfully operated) activist group truly want to serve tenants rather than their own theatrics – the energy must be channelled into pressing for reforms that bring transparency, accountability, and fair play to housing.
Anything less risks leaving renters with the same raw deal, just dressed up in slogans sprayed on walls.
Meh.
Oh no, won’t someone please think of the landlords!
Hahaha, good on the Irps, landlords are parasites.
