  1. Well now you mention it I could see that. However her accent is gonna be shagging terrible

  2. I’d love to hear what Sinead would have had to say about that.

  3. No. Denise gough would do it justice.

The accent will be fucking terrible with Portman. And she hasn’t a hope of understanding the culture and the rage at the culture.

  4. There’s no way she’s getting that accent down. It’s going to be another Tom Cruise-esque atrocity.

  5. Never considered her at all for it but looking at her here she’s strikingly similar

  6. They’ll torture you your whole life and then make a movie about how important and special you were.

  7. Interesting. Is she going to live in Gospel Oak for six months to get into character?

  8. Come here now, Daniel Day Lewis is back acting again and he was, for a time, close friends with Sinead. Surely he is the obvious choice to play her?

  9. Is she a Zionist or was she born into a Zionist family but has spoken up for Palestine? I can’t find a definitive answer but I’ve a feeling it’s the latter. Cos of she is a Zionist Sineàd would hate that

  10. I would have thought Saoirse Ronan was a shoo-in for this one

  11. Should be Lola Petticrew. Or anyone else Irish, criminal to give it to a yank who’ll have a shite accent

  12. Actually never really thought about it but Sinead did live a very interesting life. Probably one of the last young women who was sent to the Laundries then to go from that to having the one of the biggest songs in the world at that time . Then here later struggles and eventual heart break.

  13. People … Please google the issue. Natalie has been critical of Israel, and Zionism, over recent years. Boycotting events, cancelling trips, refusing awards.

Still may not be a suitable choice, but if you want to call her a Zionist it may be worth doing some fresh research into the topic, as it seems to me that charge isn’t so clear at this moment in time.

  14. Can’t wait to see the yanks butcher more Irish accents.

  15. A Jewish Woman playing a Catholic Woman who became a Muslim Woman. Talk about having all the bases covered.

  16. Isn’t she way too old for this?

Plus, could they not get someone Irish for this no?

  17. She’s too old to people Sinead at povital times like the Nothing Compares era and SNL eras.

  18. Portman is an absolute beast of an actor so I’m not worried about her performance. I’m more curious about what’s going to be covered in the film, because at the current age of Portman O’ Connor was grabbing headlines for arguing with Miley Cyrus on Twitter.

  19. She actually does resemble her a lot so she’s a great pic in terms of resemblance BUT I actually don’t think anybody who is not Irish can do an Irish accent convincingly, so they should go with an Irish actress.

  20. Absolutely amazing casting, but sweet baby Jesus she has to nail the accent. I mean it, I’ll riot

  21. Should be an Irish woman who plays the part..? I like her .. would there be an Irish person staring in Schindler’s list ..or the day of the jackel
    ?

  22. Katie Mc Grath or Eve Hewson would be better options

  23. It feels illegal for them not to cast an Irish actor. Why not Lola Petticrew?

  24. I can’t say I’m behind that casting, and I don’t think Sinéad O’ Connor would be either.

  25. The shape of her face is very similar to Sinead’s but the voice & accent will be a real test I’d say.

  26. Would be a lot better if they got an Irish actor to do it

  27. What time frame is this movie gonna cover? Portman is 44 years old. Sinéad was 23-24 years old when she ripped up the photo of the pope and had all that controversy in America.
