Probably most of you know this or at least suspect this, but the average well educated “ anti-putin” Russian fundamentally views society in Darwinian terms. The war is understood in Russia to be a win-win for the amoral middle class monsters who inhabit Moscow and Saint Petersburg and other places of middle class privilege in Russia. Specifically because of their Darwinian views, they view the vast majority of deaths of Russian service members as a good thing because the vast majority of those deaths are by people that the average Russian fascist views as subhuman— including those ethnic minorities in Russia, prisoners, and those who are just not smart enough or just not connected enough to avoid military service. This is also explicit in the Russian state. It’s why there is a propagandistic effort to get soldiers to blow themselves up rather than just surrendered to ukraine… because the average Russian monster doesn’t want to pay for the healthcare of veterans.
When this war is over, do not forget even for microsecond that there were no marches of over overseas Russians against Putin’s war. At best all you get is Russians telling you in private conversation they are “”against the war.’’ Listen carefully, and almost none of them will tell you that they are against putin. Against the war simply means that the war is going badly that they are treated badly overseas because they are Russians as a result of this. Listen carefully to how many times they mention Ukraine and how many times they say they are sorry for the war and how often they mention the victims in Ukraine, much less how often they talk about the violation of Ukrainian sovereignity. Those things will not happen because again even the average Russian even the average anti-war russian is a paternalistic a moral sociopath deep down who only comes across as decent to other Europeans because they act with an air of middle class respectability. Never forget that it’s an act. never forgive them till the end of time.
This is inaccurate. Russian forces are fighting an attrition war against Ukraine, for this reason they are using all that moves. But it’s still a power able to create the Iskander, the kinzal, the s400. Russia is a 140M people. They are potentially able to rebuild a significant force in 5 years. And now with the battle experience that we lack.
That 3rd world level army occupies around 20% of Ukraine…
