“Blocks Ruins” – I did a little digging through some old photos of soviet built appartment blocks I took in my neighbourhood and found a picture of one from last winter. Edited it up and this is the result!
These old blocks are like little glimpses into every residents lives. Some balconies are in utter ruin while others are renovated and clean. Some have flags hanging in them others are filled to the ceiling with old junk. It’s almost like you can try and make out what kind of person or family is living there. These blocks are getting renovated all around Vilnius and they loose all aesthetic and feeling. Guided by these thoughts I made this piece. I know it’s a natural course to take, as all architecture will eventually need renovations but I always get a little sad when another one gets modernised and cleaned up.
Beauty is not always obvious but it’s all around us. Just got a dig a little deeper to really see it 🙃
