I said I'd update if they were good, and honestly I'm pretty happy! English language is one mark off an 8 though, so gonna go for a remark and hope it goes up 😛

  1. I’m not even that old and that grading system already sounds alien to me

  2. Congratulations. I think. What do the grades mean? Sorry, I’m old. Looks very positive though!

  3. I’m unfamiliar with the new system of grading but well done!

  4. Nice. First time I’ve seen them show marks as well.

  5. Big congrats!

Also can someone translate this into GenX grades? 8=B? 9=A? etc?

  6. Proud of you! Do take some time to rest and celebrate.

  7. That’s some achievement. Amazing results!

My son does his next year, and it’s going to be some work to even get a pass at this rate. Any tips for me, as a parent, to help him?

  8. My friend, well done. Go for the review for the Eng. Lang. result. The school I teach in has spotted major weirdness in the grading of that one and we’re recommending as many as possible put in for review, we think there has been some proper quality control issues on the marking there.

  9. Congrats OP. Looks like the hard work has paid off.

  10. Im so confused but those look like high numbers so you must have done well

  11. Is it even worth it spending money for a remark just for the ego?

  12. I’ll hijack the post to ask for some help

I’m a father of a girl that will start secondary school this year. I’ve moved to the UK six years ago and know next to nothing about GCSEs and am starting to panic… Where can I learn more about it/how it works/how important it is?

  13. What’s an IGCSE

I get the grading system but what is that

  14. I sat in 2016, so was the last year to have all lettered grades. I’m not fond of the change. I understand the conversion because I have younger siblings who got the numbers, but I prefer the letter grades.

Nonetheless, well done OP. These are very good results.

Also what school facilitates GCSE Chinese? You must go to some fancy public school, I can’t imagine a state school managing that. Mine could just about handle provisions for French, Spanish and German. I too did GCSE Further Maths, but we had to do it after school because there was no room in the calendar.

  15. WELL DONE OP! 🥳 Keep up the good work and I wish you all the best in the next stage of your education!

  16. Casual flex.

Fair play, enjoy your university and future. For those of you that didn’t do as well, don’t fear, work hard and focus, you’ll get there.

  17. Asian parent reaction: “8 for Math and Chemistry? Failure! When I was your age, I got 10 while carrying rice sacks uphill! Both ways!” – emotional damage.
