Did an 18 km hike in Góry Izerskie yesterday (about 6 hrs with a lunch stop). Koleje Dolnośląskie Train from Wrocław → Szklarska → Jakuszyce (that's where the trail starts).

A few noticeable things about Izerskie not many know about:

The Izera Dark Sky zone in Dolina Izerska – apparently one of the best places in Poland for stargazing. Even during the day the valley feels different, open, lush, and quiet.

Mountain shelters along the way, good for a hot meal or coffee break.

Parts of the forest are UNESCO-protected beech woods on the Czech side, which adds some weight to the walk.

Nothing technical at all, mostly a walk with nice views. Just put on hiking boots. For anyone in Wrocław looking for a no-stress mountain day trip, this one’s easy and quite rewarding. Sharing pics from my hike.

  1. I’d even dare to say Izery are worth spending there more than just a day trip. Beautiful views (although not like high mountains, so adjust your expectations), quite few people on trails, clean air. Lovely.
