According to IMF, measured by unemployment rates, these are the 10 best and worst job markets in developed countries in 2025. Surprisingly, Finland, with an unemployment rate of 7.4% ranks 4th in the 10 worst job markets in developed countries. Does this reflect the reality of the job market and meet the expectations?

  1. While Greece and Spain have higher official unemployement numbers, I feel that quite a sizable fraction of unemployed over there still earn some gray cash through side hustles. In Finland meanwhile, it seems like it doesn’t exist at all.

  2. Yes. I know how we could be No.1, lets take more job seeking immigrants.

  4. What’s there to be surprised about in a superficial comparison of unemployment rates?

  5. Yet Finland still hardly promotes their education system abroad to bring more international students that will become part of the unemployed people in the future. They evenly have a massive plan to attract more Chinese students. As this job advertised:

  7. The job market is atrocious right now, according to Statistics Finland (Tilastokeskus) there are less jobs available now than during peak Covid. Unfortunately, Finland is not really the place to be right now, careerwise.
