Iran has unveiled its first advanced F-class gas turbine with a capacity of 222 MW, with Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi in attendance. This was reported by
Alalam News Network, a partner of TV BRICS.
The MGT-75 turbine uses advanced technologies, including a three-dimensional axial compressor, monocrystalline turbine blades, an improved cooling system and modern heat-resistant coatings. According to the developers, the turbine is comparable to its global counterparts in terms of efficiency and performance.
The tubular-ring combustion chamber allows the use of a mixture of natural gas and hydrogen, reducing the level of pollutant emissions into the environment.
The article notes that the project could be an effective solution for overcoming the energy deficit, developing renewable energy sources, and meeting the current and future needs of the country’s electric power industry.
