From the Ghillies Ball to salmon fishing on the River Dee, the annual holiday to Balmoral is a highlight of the calendar for many a royal family member. King Charles has already made his way to the estate, beloved of his mother, the late Queen, and is preparing to open the doors to host his relatives, including Wolfie Mapelli Mozzi, the son that His Majesty’s niece, Princess Beatrice, shares with her husband, Edo Mapelli Mozzi.

Nine-year-old Wolfie, who is the child of Edo and his previous partner, the architect Dara Huang, is reportedly expected to join his ‘bonus’ mother, Beatrice, and her two daughters, Sienna and Athena, on the royal family’s holiday in Scotland this year. It is a continuation of the tradition that the family began last year, when Wolfie was first welcomed to Balmoral by his royal great-uncle.

Like any holiday among those 50,000 acres (once described by Princess Eugenie as ‘the most beautiful place on earth’), this year’s summer adventure will see Wolfie getting up to all the Firm’s favourite hobbies. ‘He will enjoy a wonderful holiday of outdoor activities such as wild swimming and cycling,’ a family friend told The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden, no doubt harking back to the days when a young Prince William and Prince Harry would while away the hours at Balmoral as Prince Philip presided over the BBQ.
