Javier Milei’s government will monitor social media with AI to ‘predict future crimes’

1. They should hire Tom Cruise to lead the futuristic swat team which will go and arrest future crime suspects. And AI should have 3 v-tuber personalities.

2. There are countries where things just don’t work. Corruption, nepotism, kleptocracy, gerontocracy, etc.

   And then there is the country I was born, where Febo asoma. A country where nothing will work.

   Everyone agrees that this man is crazy, that he is dangerous, that he is an egomaniac. Everyone including his supporters.

   So imagine how bad things must be in Argentina for people to vote for a man who claims his dogs told him to run for office.

3. This is that guy that Libertarians love to talk about right?

   Because, and maybe I’m completely wrong here, that doesn’t sound very libertarian.

   But what do I know?

4. I’m so baffled that this is what the media outside of Argentina is interesting about…it’s not even mentioned within Argentina.

5. This is more ai tech fluff, trying to bolster investment more than anything else. Which should tell you about which side JM is on. Especially while that bubble is on the brink right now. 

   Law enforcement already has the capability of doing this with algorithms. Interpol has been doing it for almost a decade to catch pedo traffickers.

   It’s no different than every big box store website now offering “ai search and chat bot assistant” that in many cases is just a low wage employee in the Philippines.

6. Every world leader wants a super powered AI they can tell “give me all the dirt we have on this person” and then after that “ruin this person” or “cause this person to not be alive anymore”

7. There is that small government libertarians love! Just glad to see Milei is living up to his promise that there is no such thing as a libertarian in politics.

8. The government profiling its citizens. This certainly isn’t going to make scapegoated demographics and activists end up in camps or thrown out of helicopters

9. It’s wild we’ve have decades of the dangers of AI, climate change, the internet, dictators, etc. permeate our culture, and we’re just choosing to dice straight into the traps.

10. I’m argentinian and far from a Milei supporter, this is bullshit of the finest grade, elpais is a left-wing Spanish media and not a serious news agency.

    There’s plenty of things you can criticize, no need to make up clickbaity stuff. For example the massive ongoing corruption scandal, in which his sister is implicated.
