During the first 20 days of August, Ukraine reduced the transfer of grain cargo through railway border crossings with Poland, Romania, and Slovakia, while an increase in transfers was recorded only at the border with Hungary. These data were published by Valeriy Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport Technology and Commercial Operations at JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia.”
“Currently, an average of 16.1 grain wagons per day go to Poland. This is 2.8 wagons less than last week. The volume of grain transfers through the Ukrainian-Slovak border crossings decreased by 1.8 wagons, with the current figure at 20 wagons per day. The transfer of wagons at the border with Romania decreased by 0.9 wagons per day during the week, down to 6.9 wagons per day,” he clarified.
The number of grain wagons moving on average per day through the junctions with Hungary has slightly increased – the current figure is 17 wagons per day. This is 0.6 wagons less compared to the figure from the last week of July.
“The total average daily transfer of grain cargo and meal is 116 wagons per day. During August, the figure increased by 17 wagons per day, or by 17.1% compared to the end of July,” added V. Tkachev.
He also noted that so far nothing is hindering the transfer of cargo, the border railway crossings are operating normally, and are being used at 50% of their technical capacity.
