Hi folks, I’m a Belfast dad of two and an engineer. After too many lost straws, pulled-off lids, and spilled drinks, I decided to design my own toddler cup.

The Quenchy Cup has a fixed straw, doesn’t leak, and comes with a lid toddlers can’t take off. It’s made from food-grade silicone, dishwasher safe, and designed right here in NI.

Would love your thoughts. The link’s in my profile.

  1. You should do a point sized version for the parents

  2. Looks good. Is quenchy cups not already a thing though? The name

  3. It looks cool and solid, definitely something that would be useful at mealtimes.
My only questions are about the straw, can you close the opening for travel and can you remove the straw or how would you recommend cleaning?

  4. Looks great for my 3 year old! Can’t find the link, it’s probably something I’m doing wrong but can’t see it on your profile

  5. I guess a concern id have would be if the kid had it in its mouth while walking and fell over. That rigid straw being in a mouth when hitting the dirt strikes as a little dangerous to me. I had a Tommy tippee when I was younger that featured a much shorter spout to sip from. I think as a parent I’d prefer something like that. The design is super cute though!

  6. My two year old takes great joy in overcoming the engineering of various drinking vessels to allow him to make a mess. His latest discovery, which resulted in the decommissioning of 2 tommee tippee cups, was that he could blow into the straw to create a sort of fountain. How do you think the quenchy would fare against his insatiable appetite for destruction?

  7. A post not about flegs or themmums in this Reddit, I’m at a loss for words

  8. I’d worry the straw would be a pain to clean. I know you can stick it in the dishwasher but I fear the mold.

Also yes if it’s like a juice box won’t it become fountain like if the child blows into it? Or is there a vent?

  9. I have a 1 year old toddler who loves trailing straws out this might do me bits actually

  10. Sounds great, we’ll done! I’ll show my sis-in-law and neice who have babies. Do you do a prosecco version for when the girls are away to portrush for the weekend and things get bumpy on the road? 😄

  11. Looks good, functionally and aesthetically. Bit of scope for different designs and sizes too.

£12 is very high price point though in my opinion. These things get chucked/fall out of prams bags etc, I personally wouldn’t splash out that much on a cup for a child

  12. Looks good, uncomplicated, & I say that as a Granda who cannot understand why some of the cups, of which I’ve at least a half a dozen, are so hard to wash, unless steamed, which is something you haven’t the time to do most times. Id happily buy one.

Good Luck, hope they’re a success.

  13. Aesthetically beautiful. Looks good quality. As a mum I hate silicon in dishwashers- they taste weird so now i hand wash and believe this should be your advice!

    Good luck with it!
