Prince Andrew’s life at Royal Lodge has made headlines a number of times over the last year as calls to encourage him to relocate seem to be getting stronger and stronger. The Duke of York, 65, has lived at Royal Lodge in Windsor for over two decades, and still calls the mansion home despite no longer being a working royal.

While it is believed King Charles, Andrew’s brother, has tried to get the prince to relocate, this has so far been unsuccessful, even when the monarch cut back on security for the £30 million mansion. Although Andrew is said to have turned down a life in nearby royal residences such as Frogmore Cottage, people may wonder if the duke would move to Adelaide Cottage, a four-bed home nearby, when Prince William and Princess Kate relocate with their children within the next few months.

However, while the cottage would be more than enough space for the duke and his ex wife Sarah Ferguson – who also lives at Royal Lodge – a royal expert believes he will not move.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: “As things stand it seems clear that Andrew, who bought a 75-year lease of Royal Lodge in 2003, won’t be moving anywhere.

“The King would obviously like him to downsize as it has 31 rooms, but he can’t be evicted so long as he satisfies the requirements of the lease.

“It is an embarrassing situation as his presence there highlights the problem the Royal Family have with someone who has behaved as bizarrely as he has.”

It is not known who will call Adelaide Cottage home when William and Kate, along with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, move to the nearby Forest Lodge.

It is believed they are upsizing as they need more space, with renovations at Forest Lodge currently underway inside the home.

The property, which has eight bedrooms, is set to be the family’s “forever” home.

The move is set to take place before the end of the year.
