Romania and the Republic of Moldova are launching 62 bilateral research projects, with a total funding of 10 million euros. The announcement was made by the Minister of Education and Research from Chisinau, Dan Perciun, and his Romanian counterpart, Daniel Ovidiu David, during a joint press conference in Chisinau, reports IPN.

The new projects bring the number of research initiatives carried out in collaboration to 100 over the past four years and target strategic areas such as health, climate change, bioeconomy, and culture. The funding will support mixed teams of researchers from both states, with the aim of stimulating innovation and facilitating joint access to future European programs.

“These projects represent a great opportunity for researchers from Moldova, who can access the infrastructure in Romania and participate in joint initiatives that enhance their capabilities. Our ambition is to jointly access European research projects,” declared Minister Perciun.

In turn, Minister Daniel Ovidiu David emphasized the role of knowledge in the democratic development of societies: “If we work together and pool our skills, we can find more innovative solutions to the problems we face. Research generates knowledge, and education passes it on.”

In parallel with these projects, other cooperation programs were highlighted, such as the cultural immersion camp, organized in Iași for 200 Russian-speaking students from Moldova, as well as training stages in Romanian universities for over 100 Romanian language teachers.
