The final week of NFL preseason action is here, with everything wrapping up by Saturday night.

Saturday’s headline is Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel’s last opportunity to make their case for the backup quarterback position on the Cleveland Browns behind Joe Flacco. The 40-year-old veteran will start vs. the Los Angeles Rams, then Gabriel will get the next reps, then Sanders will come on to presumably finish the game out.

Sanders and Gabriel each got to start a preseason game while the other was injured, and both looked solid in their solo spotlight. Veteran Kenny Pickett, meanwhile, isn’t playing Saturday while still nursing a hamstring injury.

NFL top storylines

Micah Parsons lays on trainer’s table during Cowboys’ preseason finale: Micah Parsons started Friday with a “call me” gesture in response to a Falcons fan who yelled “come to the Falcons!” at him. Then, during the preseason finale, he laid down on a trainer’s table on the sideline. This all comes amid team owner and general manager Jerry Jones doing a media tour to talk about the ongoing contract negotiation with Parsons and take shots at his agent. Fun!

Caleb Williams, Bears starters ‘sloppy’ in preseason finale vs. Chiefs: Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson was frank after Friday night at Arrowhead Stadium. The Bears’ first-team offense was simply, in Johnson’s words, “not good enough.” The Bears’ backups, namely newly-extended quarterback Tyson Bagent, rallied the team to a 29-27 win that ended in a walk-off touchdown. But the starters’ struggles in the first half were a cause for concern with the regular season quickly approaching.

Steelers’ first-round rookie expected to miss a month: Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Derrick Harmon is expected to be out for a lengthy amount of time after being diagnosed with an MCL sprain, per multiple reports. Harmon suffered a knee injury during the Steelers’ third and final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday. Though the injury is not as bad as originally feared, Harmon is expected to miss a month while recovering from the injury, making him candidate to start the season on injured reserve, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
