Britain could fall into recession this summer, say experts | Cost of living crisis

  1. Judging by the continual decline in living standards I’d say the UK has never emerged from the double dip recession of 2008/09 in all honesty.

  2. Recession or not, I doubt people will notice much as they will still be fucked either way. No one is expecting for things to get better for the average person for a long time, a recession might only confirm people’s deepest beliefs.

  3. Tories have failed to stimulate the economy in 12 years. Conservatives are economically illiterate, they’re motivated by puritanical and feudal ideology. Their economic plans are always to attack the British public to increase the personal wealth of the Elite, it is never about betterment of the public or the country.

We’ve been stagnant for years and decline is what naturally happens when Tories have power.

  4. Well the Tories certainly aren’t exploring ways to encourage people to spend to save the economy strategy, that’s for sure

  5. Fall…..

    Supersonic nose dive

    Might be more apt.

All the shit going on in the world with the added bonus of Brexit.

  6. This is why I don’t think enough is being made of the cost of living crisis. Even if somehow there was peace in Ukraine tomorrow, there doesnt seem to really be any end in sight. That’s why people going into their savings to cover bills is a huge issue – unless the situation settles, you eventually run out of savings

  7. Fair to say that Conservative economics for the last 12 years has been an utter, utter resounding failure.

Which tbf, most economists explained over and over again.

But of course, as Mr Gove said, we’re tired of experts.

    Guess we’ll just blame immigrants

  8. The entire world is going into recession right now. The result of printing money and not having a long term plan for economy.

  9. Well it’s your fault , you’re not believing enough … click your heels together and believe in our great and honest leaders … they’re leading us to the promised land of Brexittania, a wonderful place of unicorns and rainbows 🙈 everything negative in your life isn’t real

  10. could fall in this summer? we’re already in a fucking recession and we have been since covid struck, or are they saying it’s gonna somehow get even worse?

  11. Well if you have 8% inflation and 4% growth then you are in -4% anyway.
    Costs rise but salaries don’t.

  12. 6th Strongest economy in the world cause 95% of the nation are stressed out of their brackets and having a shit time of it.

    But what an impressive economy

  13. Let’s see: not only do most people not have any money, but most people are also in debt up to their leased BMW eyeballs. If we then make everything un-affordable, what do we think is the likely outcome there? Growth?

  14. I’ve heard the same about the US. But I honestly don’t know what that means for us poor people. I mean it’s already pretty shitty.

  15. I read somewhere socialism is for the rich and capitalism for the poor. It was on a thread about Rees-Mogg getting millions support to help maintain his home….

  16. I don’t give a shit anymore. We all got poorer when the country came out of recession last time.

Why should we care about the country when as individuals we are fucked either way?

  17. We’ve been feeling the effects of recession for 15 years now.

Who cares if some rich guy in an office somewhere says we’re about to fall in to a regression, when the reality is that for all intents and purposes, to the average person we never left?

  18. I mean, the pursuit of perpetual growth will destroy the planet (already is); what we need is to take some of the wealth being boarded by billionaires and corporations and redistribute it to the wealth creators (folks like you and me)

  19. oh yay glorious, am 31 in 6 days.

3 recessions multiple end of the world bullshits, we live in a society not an economy, we are fucked, everything is F.U.C.K.E.D

  20. Remember that the Tories have enjoyed power for over a decade because the not-Tory parties divide the majority vote and the only job the Tories really have is to keep that vote divided so they stay in power.

Consider the only REAL challenge to them was UKIP because they were afraid it would draw off their voters. What did UKIP want? Brexit. So the Tories gave them Brexit and got a stonking majority.

If you want the Tories out of power, you MUST vote strategically.

  21. A recession is bound to happen because of landlords and house flipping business. As soon as people gets pay, 50% of the money went to the landlords, and landlord used the accumulated money straight back to the housing market. And then, for people that wants to escape the fate of becoming the feed of landlord, the remaining 50% goes into the bank to save a few years for deposit.

Literally most of the disposal income from people are inside the bloody housing market, how is there enough money to circulate to other productive business? High housing price is killing every living thing other than the landlords and the billionaires ( posher landlords).

  22. RECESSION????

What Recession. We are out of EU, extra cash to the tune of £350 million a week to be put into NHS,not achiving free trade agreements with none of EU countries, Northern Ireland border unchanged, take back control on immigration excluding World deal with India to allow more Indian’s to come to UK, access to European trade zone from Iceland to “Russia”, financial protection for farmers, higher wages.

  23. Tories make you poorer and less safe, they should be chased from all levels of government.

Ideologically speaking they’re a fucking disaster for any economy, they’ve just bought enough of the media to convince dim people otherwise. The social harm these monsters cause is huge as well, of course.

  24. Once a recession reaches the news and media we’ve already been one for months…as a recession is tracked by a lower growth than the month or quarter previously.

  25. Tories have always been working against the public interest on the whole but before Brexit there were some MPs who were at economically literate, Hammond and principled. Those MPs were purged by Johnson and Cummings.

Now it’s just UKIP with some less cheap suits.

Where’s the £350 million for the NHS Boris? Where’s the 48 hospitals?
