Great Britain have ended their EuroBasket preparations on a high by claiming the first win of their pre-tournament warm up schedule with a 72-62 triumph over Estonia on Friday at Tondiraba Spordikeskus in Tallin.

Akwasi Yeboah was instrumental in the victory and compiled a stat line of 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists for a Great Britain squad that went 1-4 in their five game EuroBasket warm up slate.

Momentum swung in GB’s favour in the second quarter as they took control of the game and outscored their opponents 21-8 in the period, to overturn a one point first quarter deficit and head into halftime with a 12 point advantage.

The Estonians reduced the gap to as little as five points with under three minutes left in the contest but Marc Steutel’s side kept their composure to maintain their lead and secure a ten point win.

Luke Nelson was another solid contributor for the Brits scoring 13 points, while Myles Hesson also added 11 points and five boards.

Henri Drell tallied 13 points and Matthias Tass posted a 15 point, 12 rebound double double for an Estonian team who begin their EuroBasket campaign with a matchup against Serbia.

Box score.

Great Britain will look to build on this result when they take on Lithuania on August 27 in their EuroBasket opener in Tampere, Finland.
