I guess, if not for rent freezes due to covid and now the energy crisis, a lot more people would have to face these increases in their pockets…
Also,
>Leudelange municipality recorded the highest increase at 113.4%, from €20.94 per m2 in 2018 to €44.68 per m2 in 2021. The number of advertisements of rental properties in Leudelange also increased from 49 in 2018 to 108 in 2021.
>
>Four other municipalities recorded over 50% increases in rents between 2018 and 2021, namely Mondercange (up 54.4%), Esch-sur-Alzette (up 56.0%), Sandweiler (up 65.0%) and Mamer (66.6%).
meaning the cost to rent is now rising faster than the cost to buy
Guess we will move into our office.
Many Non EU people come to work for the big companies and they usually get a relocation package + higher salary and they are not allowed to live outside Luxembourg. So they pay the increased the rent as they are now aware of the market price.
Rent is only going to go up, i know people who bought apartment for 1m+ with 3500 eur bank installments per month, they are also pushing for rent higher than the bank payments as it doesn’t make sense to collect rent lower than bank payments.
if you’re EU, better get a nice place in FR or DE soon as the good areas across the border will also run out.
Looks east! I’m shortly moving to Wasserbillig, rents are cheaper and the express train to the city takes less than 30 mins which is quicker than driving from many of the villages surrounding Luxembourg.
So, rent in Leudelange is now significantly higher than in Luxembourg ville? LOL.
I’d go with people making a butchery out of statistics (I see on at home there are a lot of rooms advertised in Leudelange as opposed to whole apartments so that explains it) before I would agree with the idea that this is actually true.
Both the rent and the house price are so high that in the end, these will push EU citizens outside Luxembourg and hinder non-EU residents moving to Luxembourg.
