I spotted this last Sunday when flying from Antrim Belfast International. Why would anyone want to seriously wreck themselves by taking so many Imodium tablets, with a side-order of acid-reflux tablets? This has been on my mind for a week, and I hope that person is not dead. What do you guys think?

  2. The fear of getting on a flight for possibly 4 hours when I currently have the raging shits would make me OD on the stuff too.

    Mind you, I wouldn’t be a dirty cunt and leave the litter behind.

    Says a lot about our socioeconomic problems when you see the amount of littering in the terminal really, that and having a dedicated fruit machine area.

  5. Opiate withdrawal. It’s basically an opiate that does not cross the blood brain barrier in large amounts, it reduces the physical effects of withdrawal. I also see omeprazole which is a Proton pump inhibitor that can increase the amount that does get let into the brain for greater effect.

    EDIT: Do not do this, this person will likely survive as a lot of addicts do this, but it fucks with your heart and can kill you.

  8. If you take enough immodium you can get an opiate buzz. It’s weird and you have to take a ton to make it work but if you’re a fiend you can make it happen

  13. Imodium is a drug that you can build up a tolerance to.

    I would imagine people who have extreme IBS probably have to take these every day to live a normal life, so they probably have a very high tolerance.

    Pair that with the fact that you have to take like 100x the recommended amount to risk OD I would say that people who take these every day and are very nervous about flying could see off a couple of packets of these just to feel normal.

  22. Could be legitimate medical use. Some people with stomas need 20 (or more) mg of Imodium 4 x daily. That could be a day’s supply for someone

  24. Immodium is technically an opiate. The other medicine supposedly contains a chemical that allows the immodiun to pass the blood/brain barrier and be metabolized to where it will bind to opiate receptors in the brain. Someone is either withdrawing hard or desperate to get high.
