Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din to review ongoing and future cooperation between the two ministries.
Badawi stated that his ministry is eager to expand its collaboration with the Ministry of Military Production to implement economically impactful projects that directly benefit citizens. He praised the military production companies for their efficiency, precision, and history of delivering high-quality projects on time.
For his part, Salah El-Din highlighted the joint project to produce prepaid gas meters. He explained that this initiative serves two purposes: conserving state resources and encouraging citizens to use gas more efficiently. He further highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the two ministries on a major project to convert public buses from diesel to natural gas. The initiative is being implemented under a contract that brings together the Ministries of Military Production, Local Development, Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Finance, in partnership with the Public Transport Authorities of Cairo and Alexandria.
The agreement provides for the conversion of 2,262 buses in six phases, each covering 377 vehicles. The first phase has been finalized, while the second is now in progress and due for completion by December 2025. Salah El-Din stressed that the ministry remains committed to efficiency, on-time delivery, and adherence to the highest international standards throughout all stages of the project.
