Early Sunday morning, the plane touched down in Tallinn after it was unable to reach its original destination. According to Postimees, the emergency diversion was caused by the drone attack, which temporarily halted operations at Pulkovo Airport.

Margot Holts, Head of Marketing and Communications at Tallinn Airport, said the Egyptian airline AlMasria Universal Airlines flight landed in Tallinn at 5:33 AM local time. The flight had been traveling from Sharm el-Sheikh to Pulkovo Airport in Saint Petersburg.

Holts explained that the plane had been redirected to land in Tallinn because it could not land at Pulkovo due to the temporary closure.

The aircraft departed from Tallinn at 11:08 AM and continued its journey to Saint Petersburg. Passengers and crew were not allowed to leave the plane while on the ground in Tallinn.

Attack on Russia

Earlier on August 24, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and Special Operations Forces (SSO) carried out operations against Russia’s Ust-Luga port to mark Ukraine’s Independence Day.

Ukraine reportedly caused damage at multiple sites within Russia, including fires in Ust-Luga and near the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant. Observers reported ten drones over the Ust-Luga port, and debris from the drones sparked a fire.
