THE NMI Swim Team continues to make waves in the World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championship at the Aquatics Complex in Otopeni, Romania, as Maria Guerrero, Justin Ma, and Moshe Sikkel keep setting new personal bests or PBs throughout the competition.
On Thursday, Ma swam his first 50m pool race in the Men’s 200m Freestyle, finishing with a time of 2:09.07. Later the same day, he improved his performance by setting a new PB in the Men’s 50m Freestyle with a time of 26.24. Sikkel also made headlines by breaking the 15–16 age group record in the same event with a time of 25.05, surpassing NMI’s Juhn Tenorio’s previous record of 29.42.50.
On Friday, Guerrero and Ma continued breaking PBs. Guerrero set new marks in the Women’s 50m Butterfly (32.62) and Women’s 50m Backstroke (35.19), while Ma broke a PB in the Men’s 50m Butterfly (28.99).
On Saturday, Ma finished in second place in Heat 1 of the Men’s 100m Freestyle with a time of 56.64, setting another PB, while Guerrero set a new PB in the Women’s 50m Freestyle with a time of 30.95.
