Ukraine’s defense minister wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

“I thanked him for his visit to Ukraine during these important holiday days. We highly value all the assistance Latvia has provided us since the beginning of the full-scale war. In particular, the latest decision of the Latvian government to allocate €2 million for the purchase of weapons under PURL is important for us,” Shmyhal noted.

He praised Latvia’s active role in the Drone Coalition, which supplies Ukraine with electronic warfare and intelligence systems.

The ministers discussed short- and long-term defense plans. Shmyhal also briefed Spruds on the frontline situation and Ukraine’s urgent defense needs.

“Among our priorities is the expansion of joint production both in Ukraine and in Latvia. We also discussed the continued participation of Latvian partners in the training program for Ukrainian soldiers. We are continuing active cooperation to strengthen security and bring about a just peace,” he summarized.

The building of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was decorated with Ukrainian flags and illuminated in blue and yellow on the occasion of Ukraine’s Flag Day and Independence Day.
