Caple Street in Dublin to be pedestrianised

  1. Thats genuinely great news. Love that street, and its going to be so much better pedestrianised. I view it a bit like Temple Bar, but for locals.

  2. This is nothing but an blatant attack on Rural Ireland. The minister clearly expects a family of six from Dingle be able to walk to Capel street – The healy rae’s, either of them, 2022, probably

  3. This is fantastic, and it really starkly compares to Galway city council’s recent retreat from doing a bike lane trial

  4. Deliveries to be allowed between 11 and 6. I think the pedestrianisation is a good thing but it will bring change, some businesses may need to move as it just becomes too difficult to operate in such a location. Thinking of the hardware/tool place McQuillans (??). As I said overall good but always be aware of the downsides to the change.

  5. Great news! And I say this as someone who often drives down this street (on weekends) – happy to find alternative routes though, Capel Street is such a gem.

  6. I fully supported the pedestrianisation of Sth William Street and Dame Place but this is dodgy and smells of gentrification.

  7. Sad news. I loved driving on Grafton street and Henry street in my RR Phantom and now this. If us Rolls-Royce drivers are going to be ostracised like this, we won’t come back, ever.
