Doesn’t look German to me – rather Italian
It’s just reminiscent of European Art during the Middle Ages. Looks like a depiction of a Tarot Card, namely The Fool. Nothing wholly German about it, though.
Maybe the Rattenfänger von Hameln?
It’s “The Fool” from an Italian Tarot deck
ETA: Google “Il Matto” for examples
Till Eulenspiegel
This is a version of The Fool tarot card. The style resembles the old style cards, however the guy seems to be walking in front of appartment buildings, so looks more like a modern interpretation. Also the name of the card is in italian so maybe they took it from an italian deck? Or maybe it was just commisioned to an artist, you could ask the owners about it.
Pied piper?
The fool in Tarot cards.
I don’t get why op gets downvoted so much. Yes it’s italien. Yes it’s a classit tarrot card.
But he just asked a question… He didn’t post something insulting, he didn’t know it wasn’t german, he just said it reminded him him of medieval german drawings…
That’s Stan Smith
Maybe Struwwelpeter?
I had a songbook of German folk songs with drawings in a similar style.
EDIT: Turns out I still have it! [Here is the illustration for “Alle Vögel sind schon da”](https://i.ibb.co/Z1bJFDZJ/Alle-Voegel.jpg).
The artist is one Herbert Lentz. The style isn’t really *that* similar, sorry. Must have been the Mandela effect.
It puts me in mind of a Tarock deck my grandmother had, especially the colors.
Till Eulenspiegel?
