Prince Harry’s choice to resign as a senior working Royal was cemented following one specific incident involving Prince George, which acted as a “wake-up call” for the Duke, a Royal expert claims.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex declared they would be stepping back from the Firm in January 2020, stunning people around the globe.
Just days before, Buckingham Palace unveiled a fresh photograph showing the late Queen Elizabeth, King Charles, Prince William, and six-year-old Prince George.
Royal biographer Andrew Morton suggests that after the meaningful image showcasing the monarchy’s future was released, the Sussex pair believed the Firm was “plotting against them.”

In his book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, he penned: “The royal couple suspected that the entire institution was conspiring against them. As they saw it, the evidence was all around them.
“The unspoken code was straightforward: the future of the monarchy was assured, with or without Meghan and Harry.”
The writer alleged that Harry’s “fears were later confirmed” when he called off a meeting with the late Queen to discuss his Royal future, reports the Express.
He penned: “This sense that, despite their international popularity, they were low down the Royal totem pole was confirmed when Harry arranged to meet the Queen for a grandson-to-grandmother chat in early January.
“At the last minute, the meeting was postponed.
“Charles suspected classic internal politics; his family was concerned that anything the Queen agreed to during informal conversations would be used by Harry as a negotiating tactic.”
In January 2020, Harry and Meghan announced their decision to quit the Royal Family, with a statement saying: “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.
“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty the Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.”
Just days following the infamous Sandringham Summit, the pair reached a mutual agreement with the royals to relinquish their senior working roles and refrain from using their titles for commercial gain moving forward.
