The President of Belarus noted that Georgy Filimonov is visiting Belarus for the first time, “This is, of course, a great oversight, a mistake. How so? We’re close, kindred peoples. And — first time here. But I believe that it is only the beginning and you, whenever in Moscow or someplace closer to us, will always make time to visit Belarus and not only remind us about the great Vologda Region and about yourself once again, but also re-inspect how the agreements we reached are executed. There should be no problems on our part.”
In addition, Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that he often meets governors of Russia’s regions to, first of all, expressed his gratitude to them for the co-operation level they have today, “Without you, there would be no co-operation. Especially in times past that haven’t been so simple and rosy in our relations as they are now. Indeed, troubled times bring people together, including Belarusians and Russians, as well as the leaders of our states.”
According to the Belarusian leader, the Vologda Region is the most Russian across Central Russia, “Our people’s respect towards the Russian people is the greatest. We are practically a single people — born from one root, absolutely alike and share the same principles. We are developing the way Slavic peoples should develop. Therefore, we would like to have the kindest and warmest relations.”
