According to a report on rates of electric scooter accidents in various countries, Latvia comes near the top.

The report from e-scooter website and marketplace ERideHero says Latvia has the third-highest per-capita rates of electric scooter road accidents in the world with 294 e-scooter accidents per million residents in 2024.

New Zealand is named in first place and Sweden in second.

However, the figures should probably be treated with some caution. The bulk of the report concerns e-scooter accidents in the United States, based on official figures, while the international data comes from “reputable news sources”.

In addition, different countries have very different reporting practices when it comes to e-scooter accidents – it would not be surprising if countries such as New Zealand and Sweden simply tend to report e-scooter accidents more commonly and in more detail than other countries surveyed.

Nevertheless, the full report can be read here: https://eridehero.com/electric-scooter-accident-report-2025/
