I’m confused how these rickshaws are unlicensed and yet out everywhere with no enforcement?
I hate these rickshaws – they block cycle infrastructure and pavements and they add light and noise pollution the city – but this has to be on the bus driver right? It’s not like they’re easy to miss when they’re covered in fairy lights and blaring music
They eye watering part is that they cost £60-100 per ride to take you around St. James’ park or similar 20-min max ride

No you do not. You scam people, you run lights, you block pavements, you blast music, you are a blight to pedestrians and vehicles alike. I loathe the bloody rickshaws.
There’s a consultation on atm (or just finished?) to regulate these berks. Go find it, sign up and let’s regulate them out of existence.
Had to happen sooner or later , I genuinely feel sorry for the tourists involved .
Maybe now we can get the legislation needed to get these dangerous and unlicensed and uninsured vehicles off the streets of London.
I used to go to London on business, now just like a tourist. I never understood who would use these monstrosities, it’s just obnoxious.
Why are there even such vehicles in London? They started out as transport where motorised vehicles weren’t available – they have no business in areas where there are nothing but motorised vehicles.

Rickshaw drivers are among the shittiest things on our roads. Overpriced scams that can be seen regularly breaching road law. Oh and theyre loud and visually obnoxious

Rickshaws are the audiovisual equivalent of getting battered over the head with a cricket bat & the road using equivalent of a bunch of kids doing wheelies on bikes.
Don’t trust the media. They will not tell you the truth. I’m a rickshaw rider in London. This richshaw was stolen by three drunk people. They’re victims.
The rickshaw is definitely at fault.
I don’t trust them. Once I had one nag me over and over and over that he would take me wherever I needed; as I was looking directions in my phone.
After politely refusing three times I finally succumbed and said ok; take me to Stanstead.

Does anyone bother to even skim the articles anymore? A few dozen comments about Rickshaw drivers being menaces when by all accounts the vehicle was stolen by drunken passers-by at 1am and taken on a very brief joyride
Somebody is going to die before these things get banned for good.
Ban rickshaws. People were always going to die or get seriously injured.
This is awful for everyone involved but the only real surprise is it that it hasn’t happened before/doesn’t happen more often. I still can’t believe these rickshaws are able to operate they are notorious for scamming people let alone tbe safety aspect
I answered the gov questionnaire a few months ago and have written to my MP as well as the London Mayor and his night czar about these fucking things.
Last year, I saw a German tourist with two young children get out of a rickshaw near Covent Garden. The guy was demanding £300 – they had come from Soho, about a 10 minute cycle. I stepped in after the mother clearly started feeling unsafe with the driver. Told her to walk away and she did. After lots of arguing this guy tried to steal my headphones and my watch as payment. They are criminals, they need to be done away with.
Rickshaws are so trashy, not to mention unsafe. Just ban them.
So a trio stole the rickshaw while the owner was grabbing a snack? The devil works fast
