A toddler was killed on Monday after being struck by a falling piano near Jerusalem, Hebrew media outlets reported.

The 3-year-old was rushed to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital in critical condition by paramedics, who performed CPR, the Magen David Adom ambulance service said. He was described by the rescue service as having no pulse and not breathing, with extensive injuries to his chest and stomach.

According to MDA, the injuries were caused when a piano fell on the child. No other details are immediately available.

Doctors declared him dead after his arrival at the hospital, several media outlets reported.

Jerusalem police said they have opened an investigation into the incident, which occurred at the child’s home in an unnamed community south of the capital.

Paramedics did not collect the boy from his home but rather met up with those transporting him at the Ein Yael nature site in the south of the city.
