Hi! I am a Bavarian on holidays in you lovely land. Got myself local beer and I can not drink it. Maybe I got a bad badge, but this beer smells fouly and tastes weather like Helles nor like Pilsner. Hope this post is not disrespectful or anything, just wanted to know if this is common beer here.

Cheers and I love your country!

  1. No, because it taste like how the gutter water in Paris smells like

  2. It’s a very common beer in the north of the country.

Personally I prefer 1877 from Mack.

  3. Guys, guys, it worked! Someone actually drank it!!!

  4. The cheapest you can get. Tastes like it to.. sorry about that 😕

  5. Some do but it’s not representative of Norwegian beer. It’s made to be as cheap as possible for its alcohol tax class. That said, Germans hold beer to a higher standard in general than most of the world so something of this quality would of course quickly be dropped from German shelves in months.

  6. Try Dahls

Most beer is very much associated with a place, so if you insult a beer, you insult a city/town/region.

  7. A lot of people drink it because it’s among the cheapest you’ll find in stores here.

I think it’s awful, but I know a few people who say they enjoy it.

  8. IMO Dahls (Trondheim), Schous (Oslo) and perhaps Hansa (Bergen) are the best beers in Norway, for those who like plain pils. I’ve never been into IPA or stouts, but probably there’s a big range there as well for those who like them. Dahls is unfortunately not so easy to find in regular supermarkets out of Trøndelag, but still possible in the big ones.

  9. A light pilsner like that should taste very little, like a watered down pilsner. If it smelled or tasted foul, it probably was. It is not a beer you have strong feelings about, it is quite forgettable and boring.

  10. I believe it’s the most popular beer from that brewery, but imo it’s probably their worst 😛

  11. ALKOHOLREKLAME!!!
    Noen må varsle sjenkekontrollen, kjapt!

Spøk til side, det er nok bare enkelte alkiser og folk uten smaksløker som drikker dette…

  12. Aashhhhh, polar bear piss… One thing I dont miss….

  13. Eh, it’s mostly bought by alcoholics and students or broke thirsty people.

  14. Just finished a lite version of this, ask me anything.

  15. Get Frydenlund Fatøl (also blue can. Darker blue though) Imo the best “common” beer to find in all the stores. You might also like Aass Vienna Lager (black and Silver box eith orange font.) It is on par with Frydenlund fatøl (which is also a vienna lager)

  16. Mack is the local brewery, and Isbjørn is their cheapest beer.

Find anything else to complain about than the regional budget beer?

Its supposed to be drunk as cold as possible.

You sound like an … idiot to me. A light pilsner is supposed to have little taste, so if it tasted foul it probably was.

    Just saying.

  17. Try Rygr. They sell it at Rema 1000 👍 best of the cheaper ones imo.

  18. It’s strange because the Norwegian large breweries cannot seem to produce good tasting beer, but if you cross the border to Sweden there’s plenty of top-tier beers.
You could probably get quality going for the smaller breweries like 7 fjell but it’ll ruin you.

  19. I did when I was a student and couldn’t afford anything better. Oh and drunk enough not to taste it.

  20. I’ve never actually had «isbjørn» before. And I’m 36 years old 😅

  21. The USA, land of the craft beer revolution, still has a massive liking of Bud. Isbjørn is a bit into that street. Beer drunk ice cold for a buzz and to quench thirst. It being a Mack beer, there’s bound to be local patriots of it. Don’t listen to their beergoggled tastebuds.

If you try several Norwegian beers, also others than the everywhere pilsner variants, I thinn you will find some that are to your liking. Thf craft beer movmfng is rather strong here, with many regions having several micro and mini-breweries with a diverse portfolio.

  22. No, it might be cheap but it also tastes very bad, so i dont drink it.

  23. They have had problems with bacterias in the tank that is hard to notice before 3-4 weeks. Last time in 2014 but i know it has happened recently my friend had one that tasted like shit and smell like shit only 3 days ago never again

  24. 3-4 years ago it was pretty decent. Now it tastes like crystalized aids dissolved in water.

  25. TIL people don’t like isbjørn. I like it. do not live north.

  26. Must have been a bad batch because this beer is awesome.

  27. Every time i host a party, the next day I wake up with a couple of these in my fridge. I dunno if my friend just get more drunk than he thought and leaves some, or if he thinks replacing mine premium pilsners with this piss is fair game. I still don’t know which friend because I never see him with a can in hand. But I can confirm, I do drink up the leftovers, obviously.

  28. Only acceptable from Isbjørn is Isbjørn Red Lager. Closest they come to actually mediocre taste. Luckily for me it is gluten free as well

  29. Thats some of the worst and cheapest beer you find in Norway

  30. I’m Norwegian and have tried it as well, it`s Donkey piss

  31. I’m from the north of Norway and I don’t like any Mack beers.

  32. Like having sex on an ice floe: Fucking close to water

  33. Thw good beer doesn’t need gimmicks, its the awful beer nobody likes we out into cans with pictures of polar beers, trolls or whatever to trick the tourists 😉

I do agree, that beer taste awful
