We just saw it in the night sky over southern Germany (near Karlsruhe). Did anyone else see it, or have any idea what it could be?

Detailed observation:
It started as a short streak of light that suddenly appeared in the west (almost a slight oval). This streak of light then moved further and further eastward, becoming longer and less bright. We sometimes had the feeling that the streak was pulsating. It also looked as if it had a brighter center and less bright "ends" and "sides," especially at the beginning. This difference in brightness and the pulsating were most noticeable at the beginning.

  1. We also saw it, near Darmstadt, wtf was this.
    Event happend as explained…

    Edit:
On the far front of the beam there was multiple smaller Lights moving east

  2. My only logical explanation is a large enough meteor that entered the atmosphere and left a smoke trail, but did not reach the ground.

  3. I am currently by the Königssee, thanks for reminding me to go look at the stars, but I can not see anything unusual.

  4. Well it’s either starlink or some galactic event happened thousands years ago, we are just seeing it now.

  5. I’d say it’s a high-up plain trail lit by the sunlight

  6. Sounds like space debris re-entering the atmosphere

  7. That’s a Chinese space rocket Long March 8A with 9 satellites SatNet Group 10. Part of the GuoWang project.

  8. Perhaps a rocket fuel dump? That would be the same explanation for when that weird spiral was in the sky earlier this summer. The rocket fuel can freeze into tiny ice crystals that reflect sunlight, creating a bright streak or spiral in the sky. Given that it was not that much after sunset, and given that it was there for a bit but also disappeared already, my guess is it was that.
