Police in suburban Kankakee and Bradley are investigating what they believe were AI-generated robocalls that threatened multiple schools Monday morning.
According to a press release, calls were placed to non-emergency numbers in both Kankakee and Bradley on Monday at approximately 4:33 a.m. that made threats toward an unspecified Kankakee school and toward Bradley East Elementary School.
According to the release, the caller told a dispatcher “they were being forced to make the threats, and some other (incoherent) verbiage before disconnecting.”
Based on an investigation, police believe the calls were made by an AI-generated robocall, and were deemed not credible.
Police presence was still beefed up at schools on Monday, with officials in Bradley alerting parents to the threats.
No further information was immediately available on the investigation.
