New Zealand international Callum McCowatt has scored his first goal of the Danish Superliga season, with a cleverly engineered opportunist goal.
He scored for his Silkeborg club in their 4-2 loss at Midtjylland, a result that leaves McCowatt’s club second bottom in the 12-team competition.
McCowatt (26) seized on a wayward pass from a Midtjylland defender, controlling it with his right foot and then smashing it left-footed high into the net from an angle.
The 24-cap All Whites winger scored in Silkeborg’s 1-1 Europa Conference League qualifier against KA on July 24, but his goal against Midtjylland was his first this season in the top-tier Superliga.
McCowatt is in the 23-player New Zealand squad selected to play Australia in September’s two-match Soccer Ashes series in Canberra and Auckland.
