Hi!
2 years ago I got thrown off my bicycle because my tire exploded. This was caused by accidentally riding over a piece of metal that stuck out of the ground.
([https://tinyurl.com/29mxfsnn](https://tinyurl.com/29mxfsnn) here you can see a railing next to the tram tracks. This railing was cut down but a piece of metal was still sticking out of the ground, which caused my tire to explode).
Anyway, I ended up falling on the road and people started helping me up. I landed on my wrists and I still have pain. I instantly went to the police to notify them about the hazard, went to the doctor and created a “ticket” for my insurance. All on the same day that this happened.
Now my insurance company tells me that I have to get all the information about who is responsible. Who does the railing belong to? Who cut it off? Who is responsible? They told me to contact De Lijn and the city of Mortsel to find out this information.
Is it normal that I have to get all this info? I’ve got my medical bills, a pv number and a hospital bill, photo’s,….. but it seems weird that I have to find out all this information.

Your insurance should do this. Since when does the victim have to investigate everything. That’s what you pay them for. If they don’t, do it yourself then leave this crap company.
Easy. Was it an E-, A-, R- or N-road? Flemish region is liable (based on 1384 civil code). If not, local community is liable (135 Nieuwe Gemeentewet). This is basic shit your insurance is supposed to know.
