Just why? It doesn’t hurt anybody, absolutely evil
Enforcement will be weak.
Such a British thing, making up new rules with scary penalties that nobody is actually going to enforce.
Who will enforce it?

You can’t even stop people vaping ON the bus! How on earth do you propose to police every bus stop?
Tell the drivers!
Yes and ho!
Like a lot of the TFL rules, who’s going to enforce it?
Do you think that the Gov is just trying to find new and interesting ways to be shit to us all on a daily basis. I have not seen any form of Gov do anything for the benefit of the population. It’s always whatever they do, someone is getting charged, fined or jailed for an otherwise normal thing.
The standard rage farming once again, should be banned
at bus STOPS? wtf?
Good initiative but how would you enforce it?
Let me guess, there’ll be enforcement officers doing out fines to time pressed adults doing it discreetly and being mindful of others, while groups of yobbos causing an actual problem will get a free pass.
Labour speed running losing absolutely any and all support they have on a daily basis
Who’s going to enforce this? Will TfL inspectors be given the power to detain people if they refuse to comply? Will BTP be given additional funding to enforce this?
You can’t have a rule for every single bit of anti social behaviour, we’d be living in a police state that will constantly be chasing its tail trying to find the next grievance to clamp down upon.
Not a smoker. Don’t like smoking or vaping indoors. But outside? For the love of god
Could we try to enforce some of the laws we currently have before adding new ones?
At least cigarette smokers could hold themselves off, vapers at bus stops, tube stations, train stations, and on the transport themselves. I understand the ways they’re healthier, but in this way, it seems not.
Yeh this ain’t happening
This seems like one of those knee jerk reactions that if you think about for a single second makes absolutely no sense.
Does this mean no vaping just in bus shelters or all bus stops? If it’s shelters what if my body and head are undercover but my face and vape are sticking out from below the roof? What difference would it make if I was standing outside but in front of the shelter but the wind was blowing it straight back in? Does it mean all bus stops? In which case how far away from the stop do I have to be to be no longer considered at the stop? Would it still be a penalty if I’m waiting for a night bus and I’m clearly the only person waiting in the middle of the night? Do non-nicotine vapes like Füm count as well?
More holes than Swiss cheese.
How would this be enforced realistically. The article says this will apply to both shelters and open air bus stops, so if you’re stood outside of the shelter does that qualify for a fine or not? With an open air bus stop, how far away from the pole do you need to be stood for it to not count as vaping at a bus stop? What if you’re walking past a bus stop and you’re vaping, would you be eligible for a fine?
If it was just enclosed bus stops, then yeah that makes sense. I have doubts it would be enforced, but there’s already a ban on smoking in enclosed bus stops so just changing signs to ‘no smoking or vaping’ seems logical. A ban at open air bus stops just seems bizarre, especially as you can legally smoke at an open air bus stop.
I don’t know what the meeting was like to draw up this specific legislation, but it feels a bit ‘quiet bat people’.
