The first fully open access journal from the society will publish exciting updates from a psychological perspective on the complex interactions between human activities and the environment.

EPR will provide a home for research spanning urban design and sustainability to virtual spaces, climate change and disaster response.

A wide range of contributions, including empirical studies, reviews, policy briefings, and theoretical perspectives, are welcomed. Methodological diversity is encouraged.

The journal will cover an extensive breadth of topics relating to humans and their surroundings, and has a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. Therefore, we will be inviting both traditional academic research and non-traditional contributions and actively seeking contributions from the Global South.

The founding Editors-in-Chief for the journal are Professor Lorraine Whitmarsh, Director of the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations (CAST) at Bath University, UK; and, Dr John Jamir Benzon Aruta, of De La Salle University, Philippines. They are supported by an international editorial board.

Professor Whitmarsh said:

“We’re excited to be launching Environmental Psychology Research as a home for high-quality, multidisciplinary and international research in an area of increasing societal and global concern.

“With the growth of rich research output in this field, we believe the environmental psychology community needs a journal that demonstrates a genuine commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

“This new journal will be an essential platform to advance research questions and progress the wider impact of psychological science between researchers, policymakers and practitioners.”
