its a book full of childrens stories by wilhelm busch, probably with many good classics like max und moritz (the two dudes at the top)
Prepare for trauma. German childrens story are quite gory.
Of course, I think every “older” German was raised with it.
I have this book too!!
I believe I had this or a similar book with “children stories” when I was little. Classics include Max und Moritz (the two on the cover), Der Suppenkaspar, Der Struwwelpeter, Hans guck in die Luft, Paulinchen war allein zu Haus and others which I can’t recall right now. What they all have in similar is that the protagonist, usually a child aged 6 and up, dies in the end.
For learning German its a bit difficult, because its a very old art language. But its a german classic
You found a nice book! Wilhelm Busch had a great dynamic art style, his illustrations are one step away from comic strips like Krazy Kat and Little Nemo. If you have trouble reading the partly outdated german language just enjoy the drawings.
I have the same – I bet back in the 80s & 90s a lot of german households had an Edition of Wilhelm Busch. It’s a good start to learn reading and understanding German. But be aware, the language is a bit outdated since Busch wrote and draw his stories in the 19th century. And don’t get scared but some parts of them are really gruesome. 😀
everyone born until the 90s knows this…good old Will Bush!
its a CLASSIC! 150 years around and still people know the stories by heart.
well, maybe it has become somewhat not political correct nowadays to have children die of having their fingers cut off because they don’t want their nails to be clipped… 😆😆😆
like somebody said before: language might be kinda oldschool. at least the original rhymes, too.
