  1. The government has updated the procedure for crossing the state border. For the first time since the start of the full-scale war, men aged 18 to 22 will be able to cross the border without hindrance.

Source: Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on Telegram

Direct quote: “Men aged 18 to 22 will be able to cross the border without hindrance during martial law. This applies to all citizens of the relevant age.

This decision also applies to citizens who, for various reasons, find themselves abroad. We want Ukrainians to maintain their ties with Ukraine as much as possible. The changes will take effect the day after the resolution is officially published.”

    What preceded it:

On August 12, during a meeting with participants of the Ukrainian Youth Forum, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had instructed the government to “explore the possibility” of simplifying border crossing for Ukrainians aged 18 to 22.

  2. Previously men aged 18-60 were banned from leaving the country btw.

  3. so instead of mobilization reforms we get this, destroying the demographics of the country even more. these people will leave and never come back, just like everyone else who left.

  4. Well, that doesnt go in the good direction. Russians are still there :/

  5. This is probably a good sign if anything, since it means that they aren’t needed for a draft. Therefore, zelensky is confident that they won’t need to conspript men younger than 25.

  6. It does seem strange on the surface, as it could remove a large pool of potential recruits. But mobilisation age is 25, the war cannot last another 3 years. Also where exactly can they go, legally? Which countries need gastarbeiters (unskilled or semi skilled labour)? The educated ones need visas with jobs. Which countries are doing well enough to want all these people? And who wants to run away from home just to join the shadow economy and live with 18 other sweaty men while working on a construction site?

  7. The comment section of that article doesn’t seem too happy about it
