NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A man accused of killing a woman in Nashville while allegedly driving under the influence is an illegal immigrant from Honduras, FOX News confirms.
Earlier this month, Metro Nashville Police Department reported Julio Ceasar Herrera Gonzalez was involved in a head-on crash on Bell Road which claimed the life of 37-year-old Raquel Lorena Sarabia Barajas.
Now, the Department of Homeland Security tells FOX News in a statement that Gonzalez is an illegal immigrant from Honduras who was granted Temporary Protected Status in 2008. DHS adds the TPS was then revoked in 2015.
FOX News reports Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued an arrest detainer for Gonzalez on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025.
He is currently charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, DUI and driving without a license.
See the statement DHS provided to FOX News below:
“Julio Cesar Herrera Gonzales, a criminal illegal alien from Honduras, was granted Temporary Protected Status in 2008. His TPS was revoked in 2015. He had a previous conviction for vandalism. Herrera Gonzales drove drunk and killed Raquel Lorena Sarabia Baraja and left her husband Marco Antonio Baez Del Angel fighting for his life. This criminal illegal is charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, DUI, and driving without a license. ICE issued an arrest detainer on August 23, 2025, to ensure this criminal is not released back into American communities. It seems to be almost a daily occurrence where an illegal alien driving kills innocent Americans. All of these deaths are preventable because these illegal aliens should have NEVER been in our country.”
