Ukraine and Denmark have announced a landmark defense agreement that will see Ukrainian weapons manufactured on Danish soil. Under the deal, Denmark will assist in co-producing Ukrainian 155 mm Bohdana self-propelled howitzers, as well as drones, loitering munitions, and electronic warfare systems. It is said that this will help accelerate arms deliveries, protect production from Russian missile strikes, and strengthen industrial ties between Copenhagen and Kyiv. The project builds on a letter of intent signed in June, which allocated $72M to establish Ukrainian defense production capacity in Denmark. In July, the deal was expanded to include co-production of drones, from tactical reconnaissance UAVs to long-range drones. By distributing production across allied countries, Kyiv can ensure the preservation of supply chains even while under continued Russian attack.
“This is not just about Ukraine’s defense. This is about strengthening the defense capabilities of all of Europe,” Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
