What’s inside Israeli plan to conquer Gaza City ? • FRANCE 24 English
Yahoo’s plan to conquer Gaza city. The government having also recalled 600,000 reserves to fulfill the operation. It appears to put pay to hopes that Israel indeed might agree to that Qatari and Egyptian brokered ceasefire plan that Hamas has already agreed to. Andrew Hillier joins me now from our international affairs desk. First of all, Andrew, just walk us through the details of Israel’s plan to occupy Gaza City. Well, Annette, the first key point to make is that many of those reserveists who have been called up would actually be replacing conscript soldiers uh on active duty on other fronts. Uh which means that those conscripts who are young soldiers would then be moved to take part in the operation to occupy Gaza City. So that’s the first point. Now with regards to the occupation of Gaza city itself, well it will be uh carried out in several stages. Now you can just see see here on your screen uh uh the current state of play if you like of the Gaza Strip. 75% of the Gaza Strip lies within Israeli militarized zones. Uh and you can see there where Gaza City is that not yet within an Israeli militarized zone. But what would first happen is that uh Israeli officials have indicated that civilians living within Gaza City would be given evacuation orders. That means according to some estimates that up to a million people could be displaced by this operation. So what is already a disastrous humanitarian situ situation is likely to get uh worse. Now, the IDF, which is already operating uh in the outskirts of Gaza City in areas like Jabalia and Zetun, well, it will encircle Gaza City. One Israeli official even being quoted as saying that the military will impose a siege on remaining Hamas fighters, which means that for any civilians trapped inside Gaza City, well, that would be catastrophic. And then the IDF would proceed to push deeper and deeper into the city. Now, of course, as we both know and this is a divisive and controversial plan. It’s gone against the recommendations of the military. Despite that, the Israeli prime minister has pushed ahead with it. He says, Benjamin Netanyahu that it will drive Hamas from power uh and bring the remaining hostages home. There are roughly 20 hostages believed to be alive inside Gaza. World leaders have condemned it. The UN says it will lead to killings and force displacement. And just one final po point regarding Benjamin Netanyahu. This is essentially a plan that pleases very few people. Um the right-wing ministers holding up his governing coalition say it doesn’t go far enough. They want a full occupation of the Gaza Strip. The rebuilding of Jewish of Israeli settlements and annexation. Military officials say it could insnare the IDF in guerrilla warfare and large parts of Israeli society say it will endanger the lives of the remaining hostages. So what does this mean for that ceasefire proposal that’s been accepted by Hamas and apparently studied by Israel? Well, let’s just take a look at what’s in that proposal. Now, according to Qatar, this is a proposal that is 98% similar to one that was put forward by US special envoy Steve Witoff back in June. This uh would allow for a 60-day ceasefire during which 10 living hostages out of the 20 believed to be alive would be released in phases. uh in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. Now, at the same time, negotiations for a permanent ceasefire would get underway. Now, back in June, this was a proposal that was accepted by Israel, but rejected by Hamas reportedly because there was no guarantee that the temporary ceasefire would lead to a permanent ceasefire. Now, this time round, things have changed. Israel has said several times that it’s only interested now in a comprehensive deal. Uh Benjamin Netanyahu has said earlier this week that this proposal shows that Hamas is under immense pressure. So moving ahead with the plan to occupy Gaza City, it doesn’t mean that Israel is outright dismissing this latest proposal. But it does mean that Israel is going to keep insisting on its key demands to end the war. Amongst those are disarming Hamas and establishing full security control over the Gaza Strip. Andrew Hillier, thank you for
Israel has called up 60,000 reservists as part of a multi-stage plan to seize Gaza City, with fighting already underway on the ground. As explained by Andrew Hilliar, the operation will unfold in different phases, targeting key areas of the city to establish control. The army aims to systematically occupy strategic positions while maintaining pressure on Hamas.

Leave Israel alone just 5 minutes for goodness sake.
Hamas still has time to think! and France must decide where to send ambassadors: Ramallah or Gaza, or both places at once.
The World support Palestine
The power of Israel's army is only a consequence of the help from the western world that has been doing on since Israel's creation. The biggest mistake was made at this point and western country keep this wrong line, leading to a long lasting unstability of the middle east.
Hamas humanitarian crisis at hamas still control land 25% idf already call civilians flee, media don't make misunderstood
Lay down arms release hostages . Get an official country. Surender to win.
The plan is probably an extension of the current policy. Continue to obliterate everyone and everything.
Shame on Israel and anyone who supports them
TAKE GAZA and LIBERATE GAZANS
Gaza is already conquered, its just not occupied.
Hamas has openly stated their intent to attack Israel again in the future. So what incentive does Israel have in stopping the war if it doesn't end in the removal of Hamas?
0:05 okay, if you write 600000 but meant to write 60000, it’s a fair mistake. But when you SAY six hundred thousand when the true number is sixty thousand, and don’t correct something that’s clearly outrageously false, it goes to show you’ve got an agenda you’re trying to push.
There will not be any palestinian state, only ssudan and somaliland
If you want to be taken seriously as journalist, every time you talk about Israeli plans you should say it’s in contravention of international law.
He was cleared that all Hostages must return..
Good plan, long over due, but better late than never. Weldon IDF.
Hamas terrorists have to be eliminated once and for all now.
All Hostages have to be freed first before a ceasefire.
Whats the argument for banning journalists? Just admit it, fear of disgrace. First modern conflict to prevent news coverage.
The plan seems to be Total War and Total Victory
Main reason is to wipe clean any evidence of the committed crimes … Without Kh@m@s Net@ny.@hu would b in jail by now.
Hope they will understand that fun won't stay long which these civilians enjoyed when hamas paraded Israeli girls naked. Unhuman reward for unhumane act.
