Insulting Polish president is a free speech issue. Firing journalists over this is censorship.
Journalists are prohibited from criticizing politicians now?
He didn’t ,,insult” him, he simply allured to his alleged criminal past.
I have heard more heavy insults against Nawrocki on a daily basis than whatever “pachan” is supposed to mean.
And that someone actually uses this as an argument that the already long requirement of 10 years of legal residence in Poland should somehow be extended is more heinous than any personal insult thrown at a Polish official.
Sure, people should be civil, especially journalists, but anything bar direct libel or severe slander is hardly a crime.
He can go talk shit about his politicians.
I don’t like the current president, and if he does something stupid I’ll probably say even worse things about him myself, but we should expect more from TV employees than just yelling insults on air. Comments like that can be saved for later for social media and such.
He shouldn’t be fired tho, censorship can go fk itself
In Germany the police raided an old man house for insulting Green politician.
EU freedom of speech is lost.
A my im pomagamy bo Rosja to większe zło. No ok.
They are free to fire him for doing this as part of the job 👉
He is also allowed to criticise the presidents behaviour.
There is a clear line between calling someone X and calling his behaviour X
According to this, he called the behaviour 👉
And just a few days ago I had an argument here with a Ukrainian who was complaining that Poland was going to extend the time of stay required to obtain Polish citizenship, lol.
This just underlines what a very typical post homo-sovieticus, tribal, nationalistic and simple mindset this particular Ukrainian ( who unfortunately managed to get a citizenship of Poland so can’t be deported to fight for his Ukraine bravely on the front lines ) happens to have.
Sadly it is not uncommon amongst Ukrainians they simply often act in this tribal way, they do believe that if anyone, even a President of a country, makes a decision that is well within this person’s rights but “harms their tribe” they are free to insult them.
Not a good state of affairs and a decent argument to make Polish citizenship a lot more difficult to obtain.
Edit: And the “apology” is a gem, if the linked article is to be believed this little weasel “Holds all the state’s institutions of Poland, especially the office of the President, in full respect”.
At the same time he does not mind offending the very office in public, which happens to be criminally prosecuted in Poland, lol.
Not that he was far from truth, but certain things don’t need to be said loud.
Reactions to his words were hopeless, though.
He should know better.
I suspect that he is a Russian asset that only pretends to be pro-Ukraine. His role is to spread discontent, escalate conflicts etc.
Hopefully soon he will have an opportunity to prove his patriotism on the frontline.
It’s not really an insult per se; sadly, a lot of Soviet prison vocabulary made it into the modern Ukrainian colloquial language. For example, sometimes you can even hear politicians or journalists saying the words “zaszkwar” or “zaszkwaryć się”, which nowadays means “to do something shameful”, but originally meant “to become ‘unclean’ by making a handshake with a passive homosexual prisoner”.
